Rockefeller Archive Center

Grants for Travel and Research

The Rockefeller Archive Center, a division of The Rockefeller University, makes a limited number of grants to promote and support research in its collections. These grants may be used toward round-trip travel to the Center, for temporary lodging in the area, and related research expenses.

I. PURPOSE

The travel and research grants are designed to foster, promote, and support research by serious scholars in the collections located at the Rockefeller Archive Center, which include the records of the Rockefeller Family, The Rockefeller University, The Rockefeller Foundation, and other philanthropies and associated individuals.

II. ELIGIBILITY

Grants will be made on a competitive basis to applicants from any discipline, usually graduate students or post-doctoral scholars, who are engaged in research that requires use of the collections at the Center. The amount of the grant is based upon the successful applicant's budget for round-trip travel to the Archive Center, temporary lodging while studying at the Center, and related research expenses. Applicants from the U.S. and Canada may request up to $2,500. Because of the additional cost of travel, scholars coming from outside the United States and Canada may apply for up to $3,000.

III. DEADLINE

Applications for the program must be postmarked by November 30th of each year for awards that will be announced the following March. The funds awarded may be used any time during the next twelve months.

IV. CONDITIONS

Grant recipients are requested to submit a short report on their research at the Center. Edited versions of or excerpts from these reports may be used in the CenterŐs publications. Recipients also are asked to provide the Center with a copy of any publications resulting from research conducted as a result of the grant.

Questions about the Center's collections, inquiries about the grant program, and requests for applications should be addressed to:
