The Health and Societies Program at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Lecturer. The Health and Societies Program is an interdisciplinary endeavor that brings together faculty from the Anthropology, History and Sociology of Science, and Sociology Departments who share an interest in health and medicine broadly understood.

To further the aims of the Program the University will appoint a Health and Societies Postdoctoral Lecturer for 2001-2002. This position combines teaching with significant involvement with all aspects of building a new, interdisciplinary undergraduate major: advising students, assisting with programmatic activities such as speakers, websites, and social events, as well as helping to develop a core curriculum. The Health and Societies Postdoctoral Lecturer will be appointed for one year and may be renewed, subject to satisfactory performance, for up to two additional years. The successful candidate will have graduate training and research experience in any social science discipline which contributes to our understanding of health and society, such as anthropology, history, history of science, or sociology. Prior teaching experience is desirable. The candidate must have completed the Ph.D. before joining our program and the appointment will begin in September 2001. The appointment includes competitive salary with benefits.
