Funding for Student Organizations
SAUF Funding
Student Activities and Union Facilities (SAUF), in an effort to assist Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) present activities that benefit the University community, has a limited source of funds to help make such activities possible. This funding is available for programs and activities that occur during the academic school year.
RSOs may request funds for programs held in:
- HUB East Ballroom
- HUB West Ballroom
- HUB Ballrooms
- HUB Auditorium
- South Campus Center 316
Funding will be granted only to cover costs of the facility and SAUF personnel costs. Funding may not be used to pay for equipment or cancellation costs. The maximum funding available per event is $1,000.
Funding request forms are available and must be completed electronically and turned in at either the HUB Event Services, HUB 204L, or SCC Reservations Office, SCC 311, Monday-Friday 8am5pm. Requests may also be submitted via an email attachment to sauf@u.washington.edu.
To be considered for funding, a Registered Student Organization (RSO) must:
- Agree to work with a Student Activities Office (SAO) adviser
- Reserve the space and have received a confirmation
- Have sufficient time to plan the program
- Be in accordance with all applicable SAUF, University and state policies and procedures
- Support the University's goal of increasing a sense of community
- Advertise the program as being open to all members of the University of Washington-Seattle community
- Include SAUF as a co-sponsor in all advertising
Questions regarding the funding process may be directed to SAUF.
ASUW Funding
The Associated Students of the University of Washington (ASUW) allocates approximately $30,000 every year to help fund RSO on-campus events that benefit or are of interest to UW students. Special Appropriation funds are requested from the ASUW Finance and Budget Committee (F&B) through a proposal process with the SAO Advisers. Special Appropriation funds may be requested for RSO events such as dances, cultural shows, talent shows, speakers, concerts, etc.
Check with ASUW Special Appropriations or the Student Activities Office in HUB 207 for additional information regarding ASUW funding process.
GPSS Funding
The Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS) funds programs that enrich the cultural and academic experience of graduate and professional students. GPSS, similar to ASUW, has a Special Appropriations budget for RSOs with graduate student constituents. There are limitations to what GPSS Special Appropriations monies can be requested for and their funding process is different than ASUW's.
Check with GPSS Funding for additional information about the GPSS funding process.
