Welcome to Icylands at the University of Washington

Field camp in Dry Valleys, Antarctica. The tents are an updated design of the bamboo pole-canvass material tents that Robert F. Scott used on his ill-fated expedition to the South Pole. These tents are now typically made using aluminum poles and canvass walls.
