The Scharenberg laboratory is interested in the diagnosis and management of inherited defects in immune function. Current effort is centered in two areas: (1) Signal transduction mechanisms in lymphocytes involving a novel divalent cation entry pathway mediated by the ion channel TRPM7; (2) use of homing endonucleases in targeted gene repair of genes responsible for primary immune deficiencies.
