Digital Video Recording

The IDL has developed technology and expertise in digital video recording. Some of the capabilities are:

Direct to DVD and hard disc video recording from multiple sources
Coding and editing software
Remote control of video cameras
Wireless video recording
Lab monitors with motion detection capabilities and remote viewing through intranet or internet
Optical character recognition of onscreen time codes

This system is able to record two video streams from two remote cameras. It is a combination of commercially available equipment and custom built hardware and software. Simultaneous recording onto DVD and hard disk ensures data backup and allows for easy coding and future editing.

Small and discreet remote cameras can be controlled from a remote computer either by joystick or on-screen display.

Optical character recognition of on-screen time code allows researcher to search for specific events and facilitates the conversion of analog tapes to digital format.
