fMRI Data Acquisition System

Researchers at the CHDD wanted a way of recording physiological signals during functional MRI experiments. IDL developed a computer based data acquisition system that interfaced with the existing fMRI computer and recorded the heart rate, respiration, and ECG of the subject.

An easy to use interface allows users to select recording parameters and displays the physiological signals in real-time. The recording can be started manually or can be triggered to start with the fMRI scan. The resulting data files are saved to disk and can be processed and analyzed at a later date.

All programming was done in National Instruments Labview, which reduced development time considerably. Changes to the program can be made quickly and easily and hardware requirements are kept to a minimum.
