International experience equips our students with the skills and savvy they need to compete in the global work environment-and that need has only grown as companies expand into global markets. Our department seeks out extensive and geographically diverse collaborations with colleagues from industry and other academic institutions.
One example of these efforts is our involvement in the Prestige program. This alliance of seven institutions in the U.S., France, Spain, and the U.K. seeks to prepare engineering students for global product design and development, as well as learning how to work with international colleagues and companies.
UW Industrial & Systems Engineering also participates in Semester at Sea, which provides study-abroad opportunities for exploring different cultures and examining global issues relating to the environment, population, foreign-policy interrelationships, and economics, in the context of the nations visited.
