Edwin S. Miyata is an Affiliate Professor of Industrial Engineering, College of Engineering and College of Forest Resources. He holds the following degrees:

SCHOLARLY PURSUITS
Serves as a referee/ manuscript reviewer for Research Journals published within and outside the US. Senior member of American Institute of Industrial Engineers. Director of Education (Seattle), American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) ( 1996-1997). International Journal of the Japanese Forestry Society, Editorial Board Member since 1995.
Research Areas
Cost
analysis of harvesting equipment and systems in the Forestry Operations and
trucking systems from landing to mill. Development
of engineering methodology and new concepts for improving operational practices
as required to meet increasing environmental, physical, and economical
constraints and requirements in the field operations.
Work measurement, operations management, cost analysis of process and
methods. Computer simulation and Dynamic programming, project management, master
planning and scheduling, material management, production planning and control.
Seminars; Workshops; Teaching
Since
1977, he has been involved in various university activities such as cooperative
research with university faculties, supervisory committee member for graduate
students, and giving seminars and workshops and teaching the class in the field
of engineering and forestry operations (Michigan Technological University,
Colorado State University, and University of Washington).
