The key aspect of the IHART program is the pairing of each trainee with an experienced senior scientist and the subsequent development of individualized collaborative research mentorship.
Another key aspect is participation in on-site and online training programs.
Onsite, Fellows participate in one orientation session, two structured Summer Research Institutes, and two Winter Research Roundtables.
Online, Fellows have access to IHART faculty video lectures. They are also issued a UWNetID that gives them access to University of Washington resources such as training in the Responsible Conduct of Ethics and library resources.
