James Michael Williams

Mike Williams is Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB), responsible for the oversight of the firm’s information systems and technologies worldwide.

PB (Parsons Brinckerhoff) is a global leader in developing and operating infrastructure around the world, with 10,000 employees dedicated to meeting the needs of clients and communities in the Americas, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Australia-Pacific regions.

Mike has extensive experience in the delivery of information technology (IT) services within the engineering and construction industries both in the U.S. and in Latin America. He has over 20 years of broad-based experience in the management of IT, automation technologies, research & development programs and construction field operations.

Prior to joining PB, Mike worked for Bechtel Corporation in a variety of senior-level IT positions for several divisions of the global engineering, construction and project management company, including IT Operations Manager, EPC Gateway Technology Director, and CIO for the Latin America Region, where he was based for 4 years in Santiago, Chile. While working in the Bechtel R&D organization, Mike was Program Manager for a highly successful collaboration with Virginia Tech faculty and students that resulted in the formation of the Consortium for Advanced Positioning Systems. He was co-recipient of the Construction Innovation Forum (CIF) NOVA Award in 1995. http://www.cif.org/prewin95.htm

Previously, Mike spent 5 years in Venezuela working as surveyor, quantity surveyor, and civil superintendent on the construction of large aluminum and alumina refineries. He has also worked in numerous other field and operational assignments including heavy equipment operator, concrete crew carpenter, laborer, ski lift maintenance.

Mike earned his Doctorate and his Masters degree in Civil Engineering at Stanford University and his B.Sc. at the University of Colorado. He is a Consulting Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at Stanford University, where he has taught the Construction Surveying course for many years.

He is a Registered Civil Engineer in the State of California and Certified Professional Ski Patrolman.
