I3M is a membership organization. As such, it provides a wealth of resources and access to practitioners both within industry and academia. Partners have exclusive access to material produced by I3M research for a period of six months, after which research will be made available to academic or practitioner journals. By sharing insights and resources from both spheres of practice, I3M is uniquely positioned to provide competitive advantage to its partners. Partners receive access to an annual compendium of papers and briefings from ongoing, and completed, research projects. I3M partners also receive a compilation of Master of Science in Information Management (MSIM) student resumes. Partners can choose to use this resource to hire students for internships, special projects, or for full-time positions.
Partners contribute annually to the Information School for membership in I3M. Initially, two membership tiers are being offered; research partners contribute $25,000 per year and associate partners contribute $10,000 per year. Membership fees for subsequent years are set through an annual planning cycle based on the agenda defined by the Institute. Institutional membership provides the following opportunities during the inaugural year:
- Participation in setting annual research agenda (research partners only).
- Participation in twice yearly seminar/workshops with other members of the UW faculty and graduate student on topics guided by the members' interests. These seminars are organized and held at the UW iSchool.
- Access to the expertise and knowledge of iSchool faculty on topics related to information management. For member companies outside of the Pacific Northwest, site visits to the University of Washhington may be arranged at the company's expense.
- Opportunities to share current practices and explore emerging trends with other Institute members during the bi-annual seminars, and through online communication venues supported by the Information School for Institute members only.
- Potential support from iSchool graduate students directly involved in research and study relating to the information management and innovation field. Sponsored research projects may be arranged separately with the support of the Institute's Faculty Directors, following all UW guidelines on grants and contract services.
- Invitations to iSchool sponsored events of interest.
