Waterfront Activities

The Waterfront Activities Center, located directly behind Husky Stadium on Union Bay and the Montlake Cut, offers canoe and rowboat rentals, storage of non-motorized craft for students, faculty/staff, and alumni association members, and a lounge/meeting room available for use by university groups and departments.

The Washington Yacht Club , Sailing Team, Kayak Club , and Union Bay Rowing Club organize their activities at the WAC. Email clubspo@uw.edu for more information on these clubs.

Canoe & Rowboat Rentals

  Weekdays Weekends
UW Students $5.00/hour $6.00/hour
UW Faculty/Staff $6.50/hour $8.00/hour
UW Alumni $8.00/hour $9.50/hour
General Public $8.50/hour $10.00/hour
  • Rentals available to students, faculty/staff, alumni, and the general public.
  • Must be 18 years of age and older with valid ID to rent a canoe or rowboat.
  • Boat restrictions: maximum 3 in a canoe and 4 in a rowboat.
  • Patrons must have current UW ID to receive established rates.
  • Payment must be made by cash or check ONLY.

Note: Specific rental times can vary throughout the year depending on daylight. Please call us at (206) 543-9433 for current rental hours.

Boat Storage

We offer storage of non-motorized craft with 24-hour access available to students, faculty/staff, and alumni association members. Call (206) 543-9433 for availability and pricing.

Parking is free after 12:00pm (noon) on Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays.
