The Rain City Send (RCS) is an Intercollegiate Climbing Competition hosted by the University of Washington. It provides students, faculty, and staff of all Pacific Northwest colleges and universities the chance to test their climbing skills against others and enjoy some friendly competition. The Rain City Send is a sanctioned event for the Northwest Collegiate Climbing Circuit (NC3).

First place contenders are awarded the elusive "Golden Bolt!"

Who
College students, faculty and staff of any Pacific Northwest university or college. All guests to UW’s IMA will need to show their university ID and/or a driver's license to gain entry to the building.

The event will be taking place at the Indoor Climbing Center in the Intramural Activities Center (IMA) at the University of Washington, located at:

How

Download the registration formpdf and waiverpdf. Registration will be accepted via fax or mail (as listed below). If you are part of the UW community, you can register in-person at the Climbing Center or the IMA Programs Office. We will accept registration on the day of the competition, though there is no guarantee of receiving an event T-shirt.

What

From I-5 (northbound or southbound)

  • Take exit 168B on the left for State Hwy 520 toward Bellevue/Kirkland
  • Merge onto WA-520 E
  • Take the Montlake Blvd exit
  • Turn left at E Montlake Pl
  • Turn right at Walla Walla Rd. (just past the IMA) for parking.

    Ample parking will be available in the E-1 parking lot just north of the IMA.

    The Northwest Collegiate Climbing Circuit (NC3) is a series of climbing events that allow students to challenge themselves and represent their university, club, or team at the same time. Currently, the NC3 events are hosted by: U. of Washington, Eastern Washington U., Western Washington U., Oregon State U., U. of Idaho, Central Washington U., U. of Oregon and Whitman College.     Eligibility

    All participants of the Northwest Collegiate Climbing Circuit (NC3) must have this form completed and approved by their school’s Program Coordinator before they are eligible to enroll in the NC3.
