ImageCORE Policies

  • The ImageCORE Microscopy Facility is a multi-user facility and must be treated as such. All workstations must be returned to their original condition after each usage. This includes the re-application of any protective equipment such as dust covers. Investigators should plan extra time in their experiments for clean-up and sufficient time for the equipment to cool prior to leaving the facility. Security of the equipment within ImageCORE labs is the sole responsibility of each user, locking of all rooms upon exiting is required regardless of duration.

  • Should equipment be left in a "uncleaned" state, a cleaning fee of $100 per hour will be assessed.

  • Latex-free gloves are provided to all investigators at no cost. The dawning of gloves is both requested and recommended as gloves greatly reduce the amount of contaminants introduced to the microscopes and in turn result in superior quality control of images.

  • All ImageCORE facilities mandate a "pack in, pack out" policy for biologicals. All samples must be removed from the facilities immediately following an investigator's usage.

  • Equipment sign up is on a "first come, first served" basis. All investigators are encouraged to sign up 3 days in advance for their desired equipment. Should the investigator need to cancel, we ask the appointment be cleared from the calendar 24 hours prior.

  • The ImageCORE uses a chargeback system. All investigators will be billed at the end of the month. Investigators are responsible for filling out logs upon arrival and exiting the facility. Non-compliance will result in a 2-hour minimum charge per occurrence.

  • Confocal use requires at least 3 business days advanced notice. Any investigators interested in obtaining confocal images must sign up both on the online calendar as well as e-mail the facility administrator. All confocal appointments include assistance on the microscope.

  • Rate for equipment and subsequent use are subject to change. The current facility usage rates will always remain posted on the ImageCORE website.

  • Unauthorized use of any ImageCORE facilities is strictly prohibited. All investigators wishing to use specific equipment must be properly trained and issued their own access rights. Sharing of keys, login names and passwords between labs and investigators will result in loss of all ImageCORE privileges.
