Department of Immunology, School of Medicine, University of Washington

Proceed past introduction to main navigation.

In recognition of the importance of immunology, the University of Washington established an independent Department of Immunology in 1989. This reflected the realization that immunologic disorders were of great importance in medicine and that the science of immunology, although sharing a conceptual base with biochemistry and microbiology, had developed a distinct intellectual focus, vocabulary, and technical armamentarium.
