Alumni Update: Stephanie Page

Since completing the MSTP program in 1999 I have stayed at the University of Washington. I completed a Residency Program in Internal Medicine in 2002 during which time I married Christian Kuhr (from the
Perlmutter lab...another lab romance cliche!). We welcomed our son, Oliver into the world in January of 2002. I am currently completing subspecialty training in Endocrinology as a Fellow with Dr. William Bremner (whose areas of expertise include male hormonal contraception and the end organ effects of androgens) from which I recently took a 6 week break to enjoy time with our second child, Martha. Life with two young children and two academic physicians is hectic but full and I still have my sights set on a career in academic medicine.

Since leaving the Department of Immunology my interests have moved towards clinical research, where humans instead of mice are the "model system", but the foundation in experimental design and scientific writing I gained during my PhD continues to serve me well. I expect to write for a K-award (and get it I hope!) within the next year in the hopes of eventually moving from Fellow to Assistant Professor before our kids are in college.
