Overview

Students enter IPEM through Anthropology departments at either UW or WSU or through the School of Biological Sciences at WSU, with fellowships divided approximately equally among the three units. Students must be admitted to PhD programs in one of these departments, but can be considered simultaneously by the IPEM. IPEM admission will be determined by the IPEM Core Faculty. Students may either be admitted with the BA/BS, or with an MA/MS, and are eligible for two years of IPEM support with the possibility of a third year, competitively determined.

Note: Contact the graduate admissions staff of the appropriate department and graduate school you are applying to for non-IPEM admission materials and procedures:

In addition to the materials required for admission into each regular graduate program, IPEM consideration requires a statement (1000 words maximum) describing your reasons for applying to the IPEM program, your relevant background, and the ways in which your areas of research interest are congruent with IPEM goals. Applicants will be notified of the status of their IPEM application as soon as possible after departmental and university admission decisions have been made, generally before April 15.
