For the last 100 years, the Jackson School of International Studies has been a unique and prestigious institution within the University of Washington. It continues today to examine both specific regions of the world and larger global issues.
The Jackson School and UW’s International & English Language Programs have partnered to offer the ISAYA Institute. ISAYA provides international students from global universities with an academic, personalized and flexible study abroad experience at the University of Washington.
Students may apply for the Autumn or Spring Cycle. Both cycles offer a Two Quarter (6 month) Program. Each cycle begins with a week of fun orientation activities before classes start.

Eligibility
The ISAYA Institute is open to undergraduate students who have been enrolled for a minimum of one year at a university outside of the U.S. Applicants must be in good academic standing at their home university and have intermediate or advanced English language proficiency levels. Depending on students’ entering test scores, they will be placed within one of two Divisions: Cascade or Olympic.

*For the TOEIC, all applicants must submit scores for the Listening & Reading (L&R) test. The Speaking & Writing (S&W) test is also required for Cascade applicants and recommended for Olympic applicants.

Pricing
Application Fee: $50 USD
I-20 Express Mail Fee: $40 USD
Deposit: $1,500 USD (will be credited toward your Program Fee)
Program Fee for Spring and Autumn 2012 cycles:
Cascade Division: $16,900 USD
Olympic Division: $15,100 USD
Estimated Living Expenses: $7,750 USD
All fees are nonrefundable unless otherwise stated. Financial statements must demonstrate an ability to cover program and living expenses.
Additional Costs
Accommodation = $2,000 per quarter
Food = $800 per quarter
Medical Insurance= $207 per quarter
Personal Expenses = $750 per quarter
Books = $600 ($300 per quarter)
*1 quarter is equivalent to approximately 3 months.

Additional English Courses
Students that have a test score below the requirement of the desired division have the option to attend Intensive English Program (IEP) courses prior to the start of the ISAYA Institute. Two quarters of IEP courses is recommend and either an updated test score or a passing score on the IEP placement test will be required to ensure that the student is prepared for ISAYA.
The IEP courses are also available to students that would like to have a 9 or 12 month study abroad experience.
