My research focuses on synthetic biomaterials for tissue engineering and regeneration. We explore new materials that direct healing to a non-fibrotic, pro-angiogenic pathway. We have seen good healing and reconstruction in skin, heart, bone, sclera and other tissues. We use stem cells in our heart tissue engineering project that is focused on replacing heart muscle damaged by heart attack.
