ICBZM 2015

2nd International Conference on Bioinspired
and Zwitterionic Materials

Conference Overview

Understanding the sophisticated functionalities offered by objects and processes found in nature will guide the design of materials with desirable properties to meet challenging applications. Zwitterionic materials, inspired by cell membranes and proteins, are excellent examples of bioinspired materials and have emerged as a new class of biocompatible materials. ICBZM 2015 aims to capture the excitement of this emerging field.

This conference will focus on zwitterionic materials specifically and biomaterials broadly. The purposes are to update latest developments in zwitterionic materials and identify challenges and opportunities in biomaterials. The conference will provide an excellent opportunity for researchers from different fields in biomaterials, polymers, chemistry and bioengineering to discuss recent advances, share innovative ideas, and promote international collaborations.

Please use the forms supplied to submit abstracts or request a visa letter.

All abstract submission and early registration deadlines passed, however registration is still open at standard registration rate, please visit the registration page for details.

Early registration deadline: July 22nd, 2015

Abstract acceptance: May 1, 2015
Registration open: April 1, 2015

Travel Awards and Poster Competition

Posters should be 4' x 3' maximum

Acta Biomaterialia will sponsor a poster competition for students and postdoctoral fellows. Students and postdoctoral fellows in U.S. institutions are eligible for several travel awards ($600 each) supported by the U.S. NSF. The awardees will be selected from submitted posters. Please submit poster abstracts with this form.

Special Issue
Acta Biomaterialia (William R. Wagner, Editor-in-chief) will publish a special journal issue after the conference.

Short Course

The 20th UWEB21 Biomaterials Intensive Short Course (Lead instructor and course coordinator: Prof. Buddy Ratner) is scheduled for August 10 - 12th, 2015 at the University of Washington campus, which is immediately before ICBZM 2015. This course is a 2.5 day intensive introduction to biomaterials, medical devices, and biocompatibility. Please reference the announcement or Short Course website for more information.
