August Susan Liu is awarded the National Institutes of Health T32 Training Grant in Nanotechnology and Physical Sciences in Cancer Research.

June Andrew White (UW, PhD 13) is now a postdoctoral fellow in Prof. Voth's group at the University of Chicago.
May Lei Zhang (UW, PhD 12) and coauthors publish a paper in Nature Biotechnology entitled 'Zwitterionic hydrogels implanted in mice resist the foreign body reaction'. It is featured with an article by Prof. David Grainger in the same issue, 'All charged up about implanted biomaterials'. The paper has also been highlighted by reports and posts in ACS Chemical & Engineering News, Kurzweil, Gizmag, UW Today, and others.
  Yung Chang, a former postdoc, is now a Distinguished Professor at Chung Yuan Christian University, Taiwan.
April Andy Sinclair has received a Department of Education GAANN Fellowship to work with UW ChemE seniors on a technology commercialization project.
January Zhiqiang Cao (UW, PhD 11) is now an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Wayne State University.

September Yongsheng Leng, a former postdoc in our group, received the NSF CAREER award this year. He was also promoted to associate professor of Engineering and Applied Science with tenure at George Washington University
August Jie Zheng, a former Ph.D. student in our group, was promoted to associate professor of chemical engineering with tenure at the University of Akron.
June Andrew White wins Best Poster award at the International Congress on Marine Corrosion and Fouling 2012.
  Dr. Jiang is appointed as an UW Entrepreneurial Faculty Fellow.
May Dr. Jiang is awarded the College of Engineering Community of Innovators award for research innovation.
February Dr. Jiang is elected as Fellow, American Institute of Chemical Engineering.
January Andrew Keefe published an article on protein protection in Nature Chemistry with an introduction article by Prof. DeSimone, which is featured by UW Chemical Engineering.

April Kasia Nowinski receives the prestigious NSF graduate fellowship.
March Jie Zheng (UW, PhD 95) has been awarded a prestigious CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The CAREER Award is given to faculty members at the beginning of their academic careers and is one of NSFs most competitive awards. Jie did his Ph.D. work with us and is now an assistant professor at the University of Akron.


September Andrew Keefe is awarded the National Institutes of Health T32 Training Grant in Nanotechnology and Physical Sciences in Cancer Research. The focus of this work is to integrate innovations in nanotechnology and the physical sciences to cancer diagnosis and treatment. This work is in collaboration with the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center with his Co-Mentor from, Dr. Oliver Press.
August Congratulations to Jason Hower and Gang Cheng who have just started their academic careers in Chemical Engineering Departments at the South Dakota School of Mine and Technology and the University of Akron, respectively. Both of them did their Ph.D. work with us and graduated in May 2009. They are the eighth and ninth of our group members who are now in academics.
