This page provides links to abstracts of two publications based on
phone surveys designed to improve characterization of dermal exposures to
soil. Survey data were collected from two populations (one national and
the other regional), specifically focusing on behavioral aspects that impact
exposure duration and skin contact area. In the first paper, the data are
compared and used to generate exposure estimates that can be compared to
exposures computed using current default parameters.
The goal of the second project is to integrate survey results with findings from other dermal pathway-related studies to generate a revised protocol to assess dermal exposure to soil contaminants. This study is still in progress.
