- $1,175 Education Award: Jumpstart is partnered with AmeriCorps to provide undergraduates with a $1,132 scholarship in exchange for 300 hours of service.
- Earn Academic Credit: Undergraduates have the opportunity to earn academic credit through various service learning courses. Students can also use Jumpstart as their service placement for various courses and majors, including the Early Childhood and Family Studies Major
- Work-Study Eligibility: Although many students are volunteers, students who are eligible for work study funding can be paid for their work with Jumpstart.
- Personal and Professional Development: Groups of four or more undergraduates work together as a team in the preschool classroom and have many opportunities to develop leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Community Engagement: Jumpstart corps members work within UW and the larger community and are encouraged to develop strong relationships with families and classroom teachers..
Who Should Apply
Jumpstart Seattle is open to UW Undergraduates. We are a diverse group serving a diverse community. Jumpstart serves many children and families who are english language learners, bilingual, and multilingual. We are always looking for undergraduates who speak multiple languages to become Corps members or help us translate songs and newsletters for children and families. Undergraduates of all majors are strongly encouraged to apply. Jumpstart accepts work-study students and volunteers, and both have the opportunity to earn a $1,175 educational award from AmeriCorps. Jumpstart Seattle provides training for all undergraduates, so previous experience with young children is not required.
