Ways to Earn UW Credit with Jumpstart

Winter Quarter Classes

General Studies Courses

  • Jumpstart Training (General Studies 346) - You can earn 2 credits for attending mandatory training during the Winter Quarter. We will post the syllabus here once it is available. Meets 5 times, Wednesday Night 6-8pm. If you would like an add code, email jstart@uw.edu
  • Community-Based Leadership (General Studies 348) - Designed for students involved in community work who want to develop their leadership skills, this course provides skill development workshops, guest speaker presentations, and reflective group sessions. Earn 2 credits, class meets Thursday from 4:30-5:20pm.
    To apply, submit a brief paragraph about your community involvement via WebQ by Friday, November 20th: https://catalysttools.washington.edu/webq/survey/purschk/87997
    Space is limited, and priority will be given to students affiliated with programs in the Center for Experiential Learning.
  • Independent Fieldwork (General Studies 350) - Earn 1-6 credits for integrating an internship experience with academic work. Jumpstart can serve as your internship placement. Learn More>>>

Inner Pipeline seminars are offered for a base of 2 credits and focus on various current educational topics. A student may opt to register for 1 Credit if it means avoiding an additional registration fee. Students may also register for additional credits.

Service Learning Courses

Below you will find a list of Service Learning Courses where you can use Jumpstart as your service placement!
Service-learning is a learning experience that combines service with the community with structured preparation and reflection opportunities. Service opportunities are tied to academic coursework and address concerns that are identified and articulated by the community. All questions should be directed to the Carlson Center at serve@washington.edu
