Unlock the Power of Leadership to Deliver Equity

The Danforth Educational Leadership Program, housed at the University of Washingon's Seattle campus, prepares experienced
educators to become future leaders in the K-12 school system as principals and program administrators. This program was designed collaboratively by the University of Washington faculty and leaders in education from the Puget Sound area. The Danforth Program is committed to equity and excellence for all students, and is organized around our core working assumptions. Unique features of this five-quarter program include:

♦ Graduates backed by an innovative, comptency-based guarantee
   ♦ One-year intensive program
   ♦ Cohort model
♦ Half-time internships with mentor principals,
      completed concurrently with coursework
   ♦ Residential summer institute
♦ Integrated curriculum, with special emphasis
      on instructional leadership
   ♦ Weekly reflective seminars
   ♦ Ongoing formative program evaluations
♦ Certificate only, or earn Master’s degree
      (M.Ed.) concurrently with the program.

Upon successful completion of the program, students are qualified to apply for the State of Washington
Residency Principal and/or Program Administrator’s Certificate. A new cohort of students is admitted
each year; the application deadline for the 2014-2015 academic year (Cohort 27) is February 1, 2014.
