Overview

The University of Washington’s Danforth Educational Leadership Program prepares future leaders for Initial Principal and Program Administrator certification. This program was designed collaboratively by the University of Washington faculty and leaders in education from the Puget Sound area. Unique features of this five-quarter program include:

  • Cohort structure
  • Minimum half-time release for intensive internships with mentor principals
  • Residential summer institute
  • Integrated curriculum
  • Weekly reflective seminars
  • Formative Program Evaluation

  • July 23-27, 2007: Danforth Residential Summer Institute, Mt. River Lodge Click here for directions and contact numbers
  • August 6 - 10, 2007: Danforth 20 On-Campus Institute, Miller Hall Room 104
  • Thursdays, September 2007-May 2008: Academic year program. The cohort meets each Thursday from 1:00-7:00 p.m. for instructional modules and the reflective seminar, Miller Hall, Room 104
  • Saturdays: 8 full-day Saturdays (one per month) throughout the academic year:

    Oct. 6, Nov. 3, Dec. 1, Jan. 5, Feb. 2, Mar. 1, Apr. 5, May 2
  • Internship: During the course of the academic year students serve half-time internships at the elementary and secondary levels.
  • May 28-31, 2008: Final Residential Summer Institute, Mt. River Lodge
