I have been a teacher for the last 16 years. I am currently teaching first and second grade at a public school, Lincoln Elementary, where I have been teaching for the last 7 years. I have been instrumental in building a Spanish Language and culture as well as sustaining and maintaining, a sister school relationship with Ruben Dario in Nicaragua. Children, teaching, and learning have been my focus for the past twenty-eight years. My current position is a leadership TOSA for Curriculum and Professional Development in the Mukilteo School District. My responsibilities include extensive in-service training for our district, serving as a technology liaison, and web designer. My classroom teaching experience has included 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grade. During the time our children were young I substituted K-12 in all areas of the curriculum. Past awards include the James Moffett Memorial Award, Northwest Council for Computer Education grant and I had the honor of presenting for The National Writing Project and the National Council for Computer Education.

Professional Goal:
It is my goal to lead a school with a vision of student, teacher, and parent awareness with expectation for high performance. I am seeking the wisdom to create a collaborative team spirit within the walls of our school community to coach, aid, and assist one another. I desire to use school performance with an eye to determine the need for school improvement as well as the value of celebrating success together. Greg Barker

Prior to earning my teacher certification, I earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, concentrating in Economics and International Finance. I worked some managerial positions and in the actuarial field in graphic design. From there, I decided to pursue my teaching credentials and worked with Camp Fire Boys and Girls as a program supervisor while working on the certification program through Seattle Pacific. Upon graduation, I was able to substitute in the Marysville School District where I gained a permanent position at the middle level (6-9) teaching Social Studies, Math and Leadership. When the district moved the 9th grade to the high school, I secured a position as the Activities Coordinator and Leadership Teacher. I added the duties of Athletics Director for two years before leaving to assume my current position as Activities Director at Auburn Riverside High School in 2004.

To obtain a leadership role as an administrator in a public secondary school who will work towards providing opportunity for connections to all students, promoting an equitable education for all, and endorsing the community to enrich their local school.

I joined Washington State ’s Science Assessment Leadership Team (SALT) in 2002 and remain an active member. I have been a science department chairperson, a grade level team leader and was the first AVID program elective teacher at Tyee Middle School in Bellevue.

Professional Experience:
For the past three years, I have worked in Special Education as a Behavior Specialist in the Issaquah School District at all three of the district’s high schools. As a Behavior Specialist, I have engaged in direct instruction with behavior disordered students, acted as a consultant to teachers regarding accommodation and classroom instruction, and advised administrators on discipline matters. I also served on Issaquah High’s Site Council, instructed Special Education staff and administrators in SECURE techniques, and was a member of the district core team in analyzing and presenting Healthy Youth Survey data. Prior to my time spent in Issaquah, I worked for First Place School in Seattle , which is a private school for children K-6 th grade that are homeless or in transition. At First Place , I was the Director of Social Services in which I served in the capacity of an assistant principal in charge of student and family services as well as discipline. Throughout my career, I have worked with the most difficult student populations and have strived to increase both their academic and emotional levels.

Professional Experience:
Providing an equal opportunity to learn for every student is one of my core values. The first experience in my education career was as a tutor for students who spoke English as a second language. As a teacher, I taught a split 1st and 2nd grade for three years in the Northshore School District PACE (Parents Active in Cooperative Education) program. I defined dynamic volunteer opportunities to facilitate the parents in fulfilling the PACE requirements while enriching their children’s education. Knowing how important it is to assess students’ abilities to meet or exceed standards, I was a member of the pilot program for the standards based report card. Having demonstrated leadership in promoting a positive school culture, the district mentors’ office asked me to coordinate the introduction of new hires and transfer teachers as our school building orientation mentor. After aggressively pursuing professional development, I became a literacy lead to coach teachers in current literacy instruction and assessment techniques. Desiring to support instruction and our site-based management, I worked with others on the decision making management team to structure and implement our School Improvement Plan.

Professional Goal:
I am motivated to provide leadership in education by obtaining a position as a secondary education building administrator. Guiding the implementation of best teaching practices to build higher level thinking skills for students who are learning in the caring communities of our classrooms is of utmost importance. Professional Experience:
Since 1999, I have worked as an Intermediate Multi-age classroom teacher at Summit K-12, Seattle Public Schools, WA. For the past 2 years I have served as Team Lead for the Intermediate teaching team. In these positions, I worked to create and implement integrated curriculum for use in the multi-age classrooms, seamless mathematics curriculum and assessment for Intermediate Classrooms using District and State educational guidelines. I also helped to organize single-day and multi-day educational field trips, fundraising activities for classroom and Team, implementation of Team-wide assessment of students, and was instrumental in implementation of current k-6th grade dance program. I work to initiate educational opportunities for Intermediate Team members. Prior to my work at Summit K-12, I held positions as a Substitute Teacher with Seattle Public Schools, WA (1997-1999), Art Specialist at AE Burdick K-8, Milwaukee Public Schools, WI (1990-1997)and Substitute Teacher, Milwaukee Public Schools, WI (1989-1990)

Professional Goal:
After graduation, students from a public school should be able to make informed choices about their futures and have the skills necessary so that every choice is available to each of them. To do so, it is essential to involve the entire community students, parents, teachers, administrators, educational leaders and the communities in which they live in this effort. I seek a position in an urban school district in which I can build the network that provides equitable and excellent education for all students in this type of caring and supportive environment.

Professional Experience:
I have worked for the Bellevue School District for 10 years. I began my career as an educator at the Middle School level as a Resource Specialist. I then moved to the elementary level for five years, where I taught 3rd and 4th grade. In the past year I have taught as a Special Day teacher for the Palm Springs Unified School District. Prior to my time in the classroom, I was an instructional aid for the Nooksack Valley School district in the Speech and Language department.

Professional Goal:
It is my goal to provide instructional leadership with equity and excellence in an elementary or middle school setting. Implementing the skills I posses as an educator to work hand in hand with students, parents, teachers, and the community to provide the best education for every student.

Professional Experience:
I taught at Mount Si High School as a Language Arts, Business Education, and Leadership teacher for 17 years. I coached Girls’ Basketball for five years and Cheerleaders for 10 years. For the past four years, I have been a Career and Technical Education Program Specialist for the Lake Washington School District. Additionally, I coordinate the district Drug/Alcohol Prevention Programs and supervise eight community advisory groups.

Professional Goal:
To obtain a leadership role as an assistant principal/principal in a school where I will be offered the opportunity to develop learning communities that endeavor to recognize and fulfill the learning needs and accommodations of all students as they advance to meet and even exceed some of the highest standards ever established within our educational system. I believe strongly in building robust relationships in order for these learning communities to be successful. When guiding principles are deeply embedded in the culture of a school and underpin all human interactions, positive relations, better collaboration and an overt sense of caring, support, and teamwork are the result.
