Doris came to the University of Washington in 2007 after a seven year tenure as Superintendent of the Clover Park School District (Lakewood, Washington). The Clover Park School District is an urban district that serves approximately13,000 students and has over 900 professional staff members. Dr. McEwen’s many areas of expertise include leadership development, curriculum management audit techniques for curriculum alignment, developing principals through Problem-Based Learning (PBL), and leading an urban district to close the achievement gap through a framework of social, cultural, organizational, and political will. Her work leads to a district creating a climate of trust among stakeholders. Dr. McEwen earned her Ph.D. from Michigan State University in East Lansing.
