Shutting Down the Leica SL Confocal
Continue with these instructions if you are the last person signed up for the day or if it will be more than two hours until the next person is signed up.
Be sure
and leave yourself enough time to save your images somewhere other than on the
confocal computer and return the system to the default configuration.
Check the schedule to see if someone else is signed up after you. Use the Refresh button on the browser to ensure the calendar has been updated.
Click here if you are not the last user of the day.
You are responsible for turning off the entire system. Ask Greg if you have questions.
Ar
Laser
1) Turn power dial to min (fully counterclockwise)
2)
Turn the key to off.
3)
Leave the red main switch on for 15 minutes
to cool the laser.
HeNe Lasers
4) Turn the keys to off.
5)
Turn of the scan electronics.
The Computer
Exit the Leica software
If you saved your images to the hard drive, transfer them to the server (keckstorage), to a portable USB device, or put them on a CD.
Log out of windows.
Leave the computer and monitors ON.
The Microscope

6) Lower the stage with the "down" button on the electronic focus and remove your slide.
7) All lenses you used must be carefully cleaned with lens paper and lens cleaner. Do not use pressure on the lens when cleaning.
8) Turn off the microscope.
9)
Turn off the mercury lamp.
Cover the microscope. If the Hg lamp is still hot, make
sure that the cover is not contacting the lamp. As long as the eyepieces, objectives,
and stage are covered it's good enough.
