Prevalence and correlates of tuberculosis identified in non-pulmonary specimens among Kenyan children with either suspected tuberculosis or suspected bloodstream infection

Two pilot studies were conducted which aimed to: 1) assess the prevalence and correlates of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) bloodstream infection in febrile children and 2) to compare the diagnostic accuracy of stool Xpert MTB/RIF Nucleic Acid Amplification test (NAAT) and urinary lipoarabinomannan (LAM) detection assays for detection of MTB in HIV-infected children.
