Protective Immune Responses in HIV-1 Exposed Infants

This study will define correlates of protective immunity against HIV-1 in a cohort of 450 HIV-1 breastfeeding infants in Nairobi.  Correlates will include HIV-1 specific CD4 T-cells in infant cord blood, HIV-1 specific IgA in saliva, and secretory leukocyte protease inhibitor (SLPI).
