The aim of this project is to investigate the hypothesis that vascular dysfunction, as demonstrated by changes in levels of angiopoietins 1 and 2, plays a key role in HIV-1 pathogenesis, providing a link between chronic inflammation related to cytokine signaling and elevated markers of coagulation.
