Vaginal Health: An Innovative Biobehavioral Approach to Reduce HIV/STI Transmission

Funding: Puget Sound Partners for Global Health (PSPGH) Pilot Grant
PI: R. Scott McClelland and Ann Kurth
Time period: 04/01/09 – 3/31/10

The goal of this grant is to evaluate the effectiveness of a theory-based vaginal health intervention for encouraging women to eliminate or modify potentially harmful intravaginal practices.  As practices change, we will evaluate changes in vaginal flora, mucosal integrity, and vaginal inflammatory cytokine milieu.
