Research interests
Evolutionary processes are extremely powerful. Natural selection has generated an impressive array of proteins, many of which perform complex tasks. A major mystery in molecular evolution involves the evolution of protein-protein interfaces: how does natural selection steer the diversification of new protein interactions?
I am also fascinated by cooperative interactions between cells. There are many things we don't yet understand. How did multicellular life evolve from single-celled organisms? How do extreme forms of altruism evolve and how are they maintained (e.g. cells that sacrifice their own life to benefit others)?
I hope to approach these evolutionary quandaries using interdisciplinary approaches.
