A welcome from the editors
Welcome to the discussion forums for Keywords for American Cultural Studies. They are a part of the Keywords Collaboratory website, jointly sponsored by NYU Press and the Simpson Center for the Humanities at the University of Washington, and an extension of the ideas contained in Keywords for American Cultural Studies, a book published by NYU Press in October 2007. There are four categories of discussion forums, each open to participation like any blog. Under Resources for Instructors you’ll find a conversation amongst those who are planning on using the book and/or the website in courses or working groups. Under Keywords in the Book you’ll find a few complete essays from the volume that you can read and discuss with others, sometimes including the essays’ authors. Currently featured are five keywords that will be the subject of a panel at the 2007 American Studies Association conference in Philadelphia: America, Border, Colonial, Coolie, and Globalization. Under Keyword Projects you’ll find discussions of other related concepts and ideas, including individual keywords beyond the scope of the volume. Under About Keywords, we hope you’ll comment on the book, the website, and the discussion forums themselves in the box below.
