The purpose of this blog is to extend the research conversations contained in Keywords for American Cultural Studies. As the collection is adopted in coursework, as it is debated and discussed at conferences, and as it contributes new work in American studies and cultural studies, this blog will be integral to the aims of the editors and NYU Press. In order to foster an inviting interactive environment, the following guidelines are in place.
- Post comments that are unique to the conversation. Refrain from posting your response if a published comment reflects your general point.
- Make your comment generative and germane to the audience of this blog.
- This website is aimed at upper-division undergraduate, graduate, and professional academic audience and their corresponding publics. Clarify your terms and the critical genealogies that inform their use. Avoid jargon.
- Be concise.
- When in doubt, match the tone of the discussion.
- Link wherever you can. Proper citation not only lends credibility to your comment, it also makes effective use of the online medium.
- Corrections, discussion, and dissent are always welcome, but be courteous and diplomatic in your response.
- We reserve the right to remove comments that do not conform to these standards.
