Aquatic Invasion of Fort Lewis, July 13, 1969

Organized by the GI-Civilian Alliance, a group of antiwar students at UW and antiwar GIs at Fort Lewis, activists from GI-CAP, the Young Socialist Alliance, and SDS staged a mock "aquatic invasion" of Fort Lewis via American Lake, on July 13, 1969, to the delight of GIs on the beach. Left to right are YSAers Gwen Voorhaus, Jay Levasser, and an unidentified activist. Kirk Pfeffer sits in the stern of the boat in the background. Copyright (c) reserved, Steve Ludwig.
