Seattle Star

The Seattle Star a locally owned newspaper was established in Seattle on February 2, 1899. It was purchased by E. W. Scripps in 1902 and ceased publication in 1947. The newspaper was considered to be labor friendly and had one of the largest circulations in Seattle. During the Seattle General Strike, the paper lost some of its support among fellow laborers because it considered the strike to be a revolutionary attempt by the radical labor movement in Seattle. Claiming that Bolsheviks were manipulating the situation, the Star appealed to its readers to stand up against the strike. -Arkady DeRoest
