Mount Pleasant Cemetery
Address: 700 W Raye Street
The Mount Pleasant Cemetery was established in Seattle in 1879. It serves as the resting ground for many of Seattle’s notable citizens and features several monuments dedicated to the memory of Seattle’s early laborers. Among the most noteworthy monuments are the Valencia Monument and the Everett Massacre Monument. The Valencia Monument pays tribute to the 26 men who lost their lives in the maritime disaster off Vancouver Island and the Everett Massacre Monument marks the burial site of three of the five men who were killed on November 5, 1916: Gerlat, Berlan, and Looney.
