Documents from the Anti-Catholic School Initiative 49, 1924
Initiative 94, introduced in 1924, was a bill outlawing private schools, aimed mostly at Catholics. A similar anti-Catholic initiative was passed the previous year in Oregon, and the Washington State KKK hoped to make it law in Seattle, but it was voted down 2-1. These are newspaper clippings from regional papers related to the case, as well as pdf copies of the bill and the official election results. This album is part of the larger Ku Klux Klan in Washington State project. Digitization made possible by Microfilm and Newspaper Collection, University of Washington Library; and the Washington State Newspaper Collections at the Washington State Archives.
