The Central Contractor's Association (later named the United Construction Workers of America), was formed by African-American construction workers to protest racism inside their trade. One of their most dramatic early actions was a picket and direct action during the construction of UW's Red Square. Digitized with permission from the personal collection of Steve Ludwig.
