One of CORE's tactics was the "shop in," where protesters filled up grocery carts with store items and then left them full at the register, claiming that they had forgotten their money. Similar to the lunch counter sit-ins in the South, the shop-ins were intended to disrupt business as usual and force stores to pay attention to CORE's demands.
