CLINICAL UTILITY:

Measurement of antibody to HIB may aid in the assessment of immunocompetence.

METHOD DESCRIPTION:

IgG antibodies to hemophilus influenza type B (HIB) capsular polysaccharide are measured using a plate enzyme immunoassay system.

REFERENCE RANGE:

<0.15 mg/L Non-protective; 0.15 - 1.00 mg/L Indeterminate; >1.00 Antibodies present

SPECIMEN REQUIREMENTS:

Serum. May be stored at 2-8°C for up to 48 hours prior to assay. For longer storage, keep at -20°C or below.
