ANTI TETANUS TOXOID

CLINICAL UTILITY:

There are patients whose total IgG levels may be normal but have decreased functional activity. Testing for antibody response to tetanus toxoid may be useful in such cases, because most people have been immunized. Patients who are capable of mounting an immune response should demonstrate activity against the tetanus toxoid antigen.

METHOD DESCRIPTION:

Anti-Tetanus Toxoid IgG antibodies are measured colorimetrically using a solid phase immunoenzymatic assay (“sandwich” technique).

REFERENCE RANGE:

<0.10 IU/mL = Non-protective; 0.10 – 0.50 IU/mL = Indeterminate; >0.50 IU/mL = Antibodies present

SPECIMEN REQUIREMENTS:

2 ml serum (0.5 ml minimum). Refrigerate or freeze.
