Seminars


The UW LEND and Center on Human Development and Disability (CHDD) sponsor seminars, lectures and training programs that are open to graduate students, community professionals in health, education and human services, and families. The goal of the seminars and trainings is the promotion of state-of-the-art interdisciplinary care and management for children and youth with neurodevelopmental and related disabilities, and their families. Seminars

UCEDD/LEND Core Seminars
Weekly one-hour seminars presented by experts provide current information in the field of maternal and child health and neurodevelopmental and related disabilities. Topics include: developmental assessment and diagnosis, interdisciplinary team process, case management, family-centered practice, cultural diversity, administration, research and policy.

MCHB Leadership Seminar

Series of three-hour seminars offered throughout the academic year provide opportunity to gain in-depth information in an interactive format from expert faculty and participants from interdisciplinary health and human service backgrounds. Topics include: leadership, cultural competency, grant writing, administration, and others.

UW LEND Interdisciplinary Web-Based Modules
A series of self-instructional online educational modules that introduce the unique foundations, roles, and contributions of various disciplines on a pediatric interdisciplinary team. UW LEND Modules include:
  Audiology Physical Therapy
  Nutrition Social Work
  Occupational Therapy Speech & Language

Training Programs

UW LEND Program (Contact: Sally Stuart)

Infant Assessment Training Program (Contact: Sue Wendel)
A 10-week training program offered by the Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy Department in the CHDD – Clinical Training Unit. Trains therapists, nurses, physicians, and others on standardized neurodevelopmental infant assessments for early identification of developmental concerns.

Child Assessment Training Program (Contact: Kay Kopp)
A 10-week training program offered by the Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy Department in the CHDD – Clinical Training Unit. Utilizes an interdisciplinary clinical program to train therapists and others on standardized assessments of developmental performance for preschool, school-age, and adolescent children and youth.
