The UW LEND didactic program is made up of required seminars as well as a number of optional seminars, certificate programs and academic opportunities. The didactic program of the UW LEND is designed to provide fundamental knowledge in neurodevelopmental and related disabilities including developmental assessment and diagnosis, interdisciplinary team process, family-centered care, cultural diversity, case management, administration, research and policy.
All UW LEND trainees are required to participate in the following didactic seminars:
A series of three-hour seminars offered at various times throughout the academic year. These seminars are facilitated by faculty from the UW MCH consortium and attended by trainees enrolled in all of the UW MCH leadership training programs. Topics include: leadership, cultural competency, grant writing, administration, and others. See below for the current academic year calendar. |

The following is a list of certificate programs that UW LEND trainees may enroll in.
UW Graduate Certificate Program in Infant Mental Health
This program, offered through the Center on Infant Mental Health and Development, prepares specialists to support the healthy emotional and mental development of infants and their families through direct intervention service and through consultation to professionals in related fields.
UW Graduate Certificate Program in Health Policy
This program, offered through the UW School of Public Health and Community Medicine, offers opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of state and federal public health policy. This program is available to students already enrolled in UW graduate degree programs; priority given to students enrolled in programs within the School of Public Health.
Infant Assessment Training Program (Contact: Sue Wendel)
A 10-week training program offered by the Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy Department in the CHDD – Clinical Training Unit. Trains therapists, nurses, physicians, and others on standardized neurodevelopmental infant assessments for early identification of developmental concerns.
Child Assessment Training Program (Contact: Kay Kopp)
A 10-week training program offered by the Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy Department in the CHDD – Clinical Training Unit. Utilizes an interdisciplinary clinical program to train therapists and others on standardized assessments of developmental performance for preschool, school-age, and adolescent children and youth.

The following is a list of suggested UW academic courses that UW LEND trainees may enroll in. Trainees may also consult with UW LEND faculty for additional academic course recommendations. There are several options for participating in a UW academic course:
- Enroll in the course as a UW student if already in a UW graduate program
- Establish UW non-matriculating graduate student status to enroll in UW courses for academic credit
- Contact the instructor to discuss options for auditing the course
