Questions frequently asked by undergraduates
- How should I address you?
"Prof. Hargus" is a safe bet for undergraduates. If I were
addressing a faculty member I didn't know (well), I would call them
"Prof. __". (And the only "Mrs. Hargus" I have ever known was my
mother.)
- Can I eat in class?
Yes, as long as it's not distracting. (Examples of distracting eating include: noisy unwrapping of food (particularly over a long period of time); conspicuous eating noises or movements.)
- Can I use electronic devices in class?
No, except when you are explicitly told in class to look at data or readings on a web site. At no time should you be texting, surfing, e-mailing, working on homework for another class, etc.
