Undergraduate Advising

To talk to an adviser, contact the Department of Linguistics or email lingadv@u.washington.edu. You should consult the undergraduate adviser in order to: declare or change your major, check your progress towards fulfillment of Arts and Sciences proficiency and distribution requirements, or file an application for graduation. Feel free to drop by during office hours or to phone with questions or requests for appointments.

Linguistics majors are automatic members of the Linguistic Society at the University of Washington (LSUW), an organization consisting of undergraduate and graduate majors in linguistics. LSUW activities include: organization of colloquia by local and visiting faculty and students, publication of a departmental newsletter, occasional publication of the UW Working Papers in Linguistics, organization of social events, etc. LSUW meetings are quarterly or more frequent. Colloquia are usually held on Friday afternoons during Autumn, Winter and Spring quarters. Linguistics majors may sign up to tutor students in introductory linguistics classes. See the undergraduate adviser if you are interested.
