The LLC supports students' ability to use world languages in email, web browsing, and word processing. This web page uses Unicode to encode the characters of many languages in a single character set. Any Unicode-aware browser can then display the page. The LLC is aggressively migrating towards Unicode as the standard encoding system for foreign language computing. Windows 2000 and Mac OS X are the cornerstones of this migration, which will greatly simplify the lives of students, instructors, and researchers of languages that use non-Roman scripts.
